Hetzner Cloud out of stock? Here's what you can do

When you create a Hetzner Cloud server, a server type is sometimes unavailable in a location. That's not a problem with your account: every location has a limited amount of hardware, and popular types sell out there from time to time. Servers you already run are not affected.

Why a type is unavailable

• Capacity: The cheapest types are in highest demand. When the hardware in a location is fully used, Hetzner stops handing out new servers of that type there until capacity frees up.
• Types being retired: Hetzner phases out older server types over time. A retired type may no longer be orderable in some locations while it's still available in others – for example, some older types are only left in the US.
• New generations: Right after a generation change, the new types are often scarce because many customers switch at once.

What you can do

1. Pick another location. In North America, Hetzner runs datacenters in Ashburn (Virginia) and Hillsboro (Oregon). Our Hetzner availability page shows at a glance which type is in stock where.

2. Choose a comparable type. Hetzner Cloud has several lines: types with shared vCPUs and types with dedicated vCPUs. If your preferred size is gone, a type with similar RAM from another line is often available right away – sometimes for a few dollars more. Filter by vCPU, RAM and price in the cloud comparison. 3. Check the history. Click a type or a cell in the availability table to see how often it was in stock over the last 24 hours, 7 or 30 days. If it comes back regularly, waiting pays off. If it hasn't been available for weeks, probably not.

4. Get notified. Click the bell on a server and pick a location and, optionally, a maximum price. We check every 5 minutes and email you as soon as it's back in stock. Free capacity often disappears quickly – the email gets you there early.

5. Compare other providers. The comparison lists the cloud servers and VPS of several providers side by side, with price and stock per datacenter.

How we track availability

We query Hetzner's official API every 5 minutes. For every server type it reports the locations where it can currently be ordered. That feeds our table, the history and the alerts. What Hetzner shows when you order is always what counts.
